Bail bondswoman Stephanie Plum (Katherine Heigl), broke (and single), volunteers to go hunt down ex-lover/womanizer Morelli (Jason O'Mara) - a cop wanted for murder - and bring him back for the reward - meanwhile, she gets some gun training and expert advice from a professional bounty hunter named Ranger (Daniel Sunjata). Puffy, innocuous adaptation of the Janet Evanovich novel (popular chick-lit material - my Mother is a die-hard fan) may not be very funny (I'm told by The Expert that the books are far more amusing) or exactly plausible (disbelief: suspend it!) but does have going for it the charming, sassy presence of Heigl (admittedly the sole reason I watched this), who seems perfect for the role. Though I haven't read the books (and why should I?), this screen version strikes me as being Carl Hiaasen-for-Ladies (though a bit less zany).
