I was waiting for this to get interesting and it never did. A restaurateur, upon leaving his establishment one night, finds a woman preparing to drown herself; he takes her in and gives her a job, but she has connections to the local mob and they're after her. Poor assimilation of the American post-war noirs gets the lighting right but not much else; the characters are generic and their situation is contrived. This kind of thing has been done with more intensity by countless others (including Lang, Melville, Lewis and on and on)....
