She Done Him Wrong

Director: Lowell Sherman
Year Released: 1933
Rating: 1.0

Obvious and downright implausible Mae West picture, with Mae being the panacea for every single ailment or problem in the world, Mae preaching justice, Mae eliminating the bad guys, Mae knocking the prudes down, Mae turning everybody on, Mae rattling off witty retorts. Simply doesn't work - I found it to be a dated vanity picture that left a lot to be desired; for a much better film in the same vein (and one that I kept thinking of throughout) is Destry Rides Again, with James Stewart doing the Cary Grant role and Marlene Dietrich playing the sultry bar singer.
