Director: Lukas Moodysson
Year Released: 2009
Rating: 2.0

An Internet site developer (Gael García Bernal) travels to Thailand to close on a massive, million-dollar deal (and fool around with a local prostitute); back home, his surgeon wife (Michelle Williams) is stressed at work and upset that she does not have the rapport with her daughter that her Filipino nanny does. I'm afraid for Moodysson this is a case of trying to tackle too many big issues with one movie - not only is he making some broad statement about the need for family in both wealthy and poor families, but he's also getting into things like child and adult prostitution, exploitation of minority workers, infidelity and maturity, particularly in the case of Bernal's character (who returns to his wife after cheating on her and neglects to tell her about it). Pare it down, Lucas.
