The Human Centipede II (Full Sequence)
Director: Tom Six
Year Released: 2011
Rating: 1.0
The first Human Centipede was a novelty; this sequel, about a trollish, bug-eyed, perpetually sweating security manager of a parking garage (Laurence R. Harvey) who saw the first movie and wants to 're-enact' it, is a novelty obsessed with a novelty. The black humor that made the first picture somewhat amusing is muted here by the black and white photography and tired premise - there are a few (regretful) chuckles to be had, and the last half hour is full of the tongue-piercing, knee-cutting grotesqueness gore fans want to see, but it isn't scary and the 'point' (stop laughing) is so vague it's almost non-existent (there's no way Six is making a 'deep statement' about copycat crimes or the influence of the media). I maintain Six is capable of making a seriously good horror movie one day - he has the technical skills and the warped psyche, but he needs refinement.
