Old-fashioned monster movie concept gets a fresh new coating, as that old Don't Mess With Science warning slowly morphs into a movie about Psychosexual Family Issues. Brainiac scientists Adrien Brody and Sarah Polley forget about the morals in a certain Mary Shelley novel and decide to create their own, new life-form (complete with human DNA) which grows rapidly from mischievous baby to fully-formed teenager/young woman (Delphine Chanéac) with sexual impulses. As 'horror' it leaves a bit to be desired - and what long-term plans the two geniuses have about their winged freak seem besides the point - but it does (in a positive way) remind me of some of Cronenberg's (clever, disturbing) early pictures (Shivers especially).
