Spider Baby or, The Maddest Story Ever Told
Director: Jack Hill
Year Released: 1968
Rating: 2.0
Three mental defectives and their chauffeur/guardian (Lon Chaney, Jr.) live in an old mansion where they generally frown upon guests (a delivery man gets his face hacked apart) and keep their mutant relatives locked in the basement (and their father's skeleton in his bed). It's strictly B-material (the performances are both silly and charming) and unbelievably draggy: realizing he only has so much 'plot' to work with, Hill stretches out what's there (and it isn't much to begin with). The message: inbred people are vegetarians.
