Oh, Woe Is Me
Director: Jean-Luc Godard
Year Released: 1993
Rating: 1.5
Ah, JLG in the 90's ... what a wonder to behold. Using a Greek myth as the loosest of starting points, he proceeds to spit out his usual assemblage of random images, excerpts from stories, poems and songs and the occasional 'meaningful' interaction between two 'characters' - there's something resembling a 'plot' (Gérard Depardieu and his troubled relationship with Laurence Masliah), but that's just there to allow Godard to impulsively string ideas together and wait for someone else to make sense of it (oh, woe is the stubborn viewer). The Swiss scenery makes the only lasting impression.
