Observe and Report
Director: Jody Hill
Year Released: 2009
Rating: 1.5
Mentally defective mall cop Seth Rogan dreams of being a real police officer, but he can't even catch the two perpetrators - a pudgy flasher and a thief - that keep targeting his place of employment. It's flimsy and desperate - it takes that tricky leap for black comedy but ends up being a sullen lump, and the endless taunting and death threats by Rogan would have most likely gotten him fired and/or imprisoned within a week of having the job in the first place (though the movie does exist in a world of its own making). The picture's final admission, that one should be willing to accept one's dismal place in life due to personal limitations, seems to have found a handful of champions.
