The Incredible Hulk
Director: Louis Leterrier
Year Released: 2008
Rating: 0.5
Hollywood, under the impression that Ang Lee's (pretty lousy) Hulk movie was just too darn intellectual for that vital 6-10-year-old demographic, decided to re-do it with even more Hulk Smash and less Hulk Think. The casting is peculiar - like Robert Downey Jr., Edward Norton never seemed the superhero type and Tim Roth isn't exactly your everyday super villain - but that's about as free-wheeling as this gets, structuring the story around a handful of major battles (the last one - big shocker - in NYC) and remarkably dumb comic plot nonsense but without much humor or drive: like the bottles of soda in the Brazilian manufacturing plant, it's just another mass-produced product. Tim and Ed: take the cheques and run.
