Best in Show

Wow, it took exactly one day to make Shrek look like a model of comedic excellence - Best In Show, another one of Guest's "mock-documentaries" (never did outgrow the This Is Spinal Tap idea, did he?) strives to be a satire of dog shows ... but aren't they, and the people who get excited over them, satirical in their own right? So, knowing that, is this even really necessary? Considering the painful absence of humor - nothing is worse than bad comedy - I highly doubt it. Guest has managed to give Parker Posey one of the worst roles of her career (well, aside from her Dairy Queen/actress part in Waiting for Guffman); another filmgoer commented that only Ed Begley and Fred Willard (who is pretty good as a running commentator inspired by Dennis Miller on Monday Night Football) seem to stand proud amongst the sheer awfulness.
