Run Fatboy Run
Director: David Schwimmer
Year Released: 2007
Rating: 0.0
Hapless security guard (Simon Pegg) flees pregnant fiancé (Thandie Newton) the day of their wedding (for reasons even he can't explain), so years later he decides it's time to prove his love to her and run in a marathon against her current boyfriend, Apu (Hank Azaria). There is entirely too much sentimentality and formulaic plotting in this and not nearly enough funny and while I'd like to blame the terminally unfunny (and nasal) director Schwimmer for this failure, the fault lies entirely with the woeful lack of creativity by both Pegg and co-scripter Michael Ian Black, who are both humorous by themselves, but as a tandem must have had a bout of mental constipation to even bother hitting the print button (incidentally, David Cross and Bob Odenkirk's Run Ronnie Run was junk as well). Dylan Moran - as Pegg's slimy but amusing best friend - is the sole redeeming facet ("I don't own an alarm clock … I never need to be anywhere.").
