Cassandra's Dream
Director: Woody Allen
Year Released: 2007
Rating: 1.0
Two hapless siblings - a mechanic (Colin Farrell) and his pussy-whipped brother (Ewan MacGregor) - agree to a deal with their Uncle to kill a business colleague, but since the picture clearly shows how incompetent and simple-minded they are from the very beginning, it's clear they're doomed. Woody's track record with dramas is spotty, and this is one of the weakest pictures he's ever put his name on: flat characters, unimaginative dialogue, artificial emotions. Farrell does not do 'weak' and 'anxious' very well (he keeps fiddling with his hair and trying to shake) and MacGregor's never exactly prospered with mediocre material or been able to carry a movie. The ending is laughably abrupt.
