Boarding Gate
Director: Olivier Assayas
Year Released: 2007
Rating: 1.5
Two bad movies for the price of one: the Asia Argento-Michael Madsen scenes that take up most of the first part of the movie are like an amateur workshop with atrocious dialogue (it's as if Assayas forgot how to shape a scene overnight), only to switch for part two into a chase movie, with Asia in Hong Kong either being followed or doing the following. The plot isn't exactly treated with great importance, as Assayas is more taken with the international intrigue aspect as well as showing Asia in her bra and panties (the Virgin Mary makes yet another appearance). I'll admit this gets a lot more interesting the less the characters have to say and more the camera gets freed from its tripod, although that isn't exactly a great compliment.
