An architecture scholar (Ceylan himself) and his love interest (his real-life wife Ebru) bicker for no real reason while on holiday - they break up, he goes back to an old flame then tries making amends with the original love interest. Seems devoid of emotion despite all the crying - Mrs. Ceylan spends most of her screen time looking dejected - while Mr. Ceylan acts like a selfish jerk (and the scene where he all-but rapes the old flame is just ugly). In interviews, both Mr. and Mrs. Ceylan strongly deny it's autobiographical, meaning it's partially autobiographical - he's confessing he's a control freak, she's confessing she's moody. I don't get it: if you don't want people to question the deeper meaning of a film, keep your family out of it (Mr. Ceylan's parents are in it for heaven's sake; he dedicates the picture to their child, etc.).
