The Bourne Ultimatum
Director: Paul Greengrass
Year Released: 2007
Rating: 2.0
Part three of the Jason Bourne series has Bourne literally on the run for the entire movie - he starts off running, then moves on to a car chase, then a motorcycle chase, then more chasing on foot, then another car chase, then more running and finally swimming (apologies if I messed up the order). The star of the show is less Matt Damon and more Paul Greengrass himself, as the picture is about camera movement and filters and "flashback effects" - it's notably less herky-jerky than The Bourne Supremacy, but the ultra-shaky handheld camera can still become overbearing. The style-over-substance crowd may take to it more than I, as there's little dialogue and the plot is essentially the same as that of part two (without much added) - Joan Allen is serviceable as a key supporting player, and is it just me or is Julia Stiles looking better with age?
