Smokin' Aces
Director: Joe Carnahan
Year Released: 2006
Rating: 1.0
Tepid combination of Pulp Fiction, The Transporter, Ocean's Eleven, comic books and video games - it involves the Mob, the Feds, a Hit, snappy dialogue, loads of expletives and even more explosions, and by this point, probably been-there/saw-that. Carnahan can't be faulted for not keeping the picture moving - he knows how to direct an action sequence - but the ending is weak and inconclusive, failing to cover the fates of several of the characters that actually survive the bloodbath. Alicia Keys is lucky she's pretty and can sing.
