The Good German
Director: Steven Soderbergh
Year Released: 2006
Rating: 0.5
An honest American soldier (George Clooney, profoundly bland) investigates the death of a dishonest American soldier (Tobey Maguire, hilariously miscast) in post-War Berlin. Soderbergh, ever the technical savant, is arguably too concerned with the technical aspects of using old-fashioned cameras and black-and-white photography to worry about the ho-hum story line, leaden pacing and dreadful dialogue by Paul Attanasio. Thomas Newman's score needed to be turned down a few decibels.
