Sleeping Dogs Lie

Director: Bobcat Goldthwait
Year Released: 2006
Rating: 2.0

A young schoolteacher feels compelled to tell her fiancé about an incident in college where she was bored and decided to give her dog a blowjob, but her confession inexplicably makes a mess of her life. Although a little awkwardly constructed (too much cutting!) and bearing an essentially one-note premise, it plays out like a laid-back sitcom for a spell (a little like Meet the Parents did a few years back) - that is, until it feels the need to turn to actual drama for the third act, spoiling whatever fun existed. The basic point about keeping some 'things' personal is made early on and actually worth noting, but I know if my girlfriend/fiancé/wife told me she blew a canine, my first question would most likely be "What kind of breed was it?" followed by the exclamation "That's awesome!"
