The Kids Are Alright
Director: Jeff Stein
Year Released: 1979
Rating: 2.0
Rather random assemblage of pieces of past concerts and interviews with the band The Who, showcasing some of their best songs but not adding much in terms of clarification or understanding (or even background information on the band members). I love "Magic Bus" and "Baba O'Riley" and "My Generation," and it's nice to see some of their classic on-stage moments, but director/compiler Jeff Stein doesn't even arrange the clips in order, so this so-called "documentary" covers twenty-odd years in the band's life without paying hardly any attention to chronology. Another glaring oversight: little to no information about Pete Townshend's problems with addiction or the death of Keith Moon. Hooray for the music (a given), but the rest is thoughtless.
