Nekromantik
Director: Jörg Buttgereit
Year Released: 1987
Rating: 2.5
Notorious horror nasty that explores a young couple's necrophilia and how the male (Daktari Lorenz) in the relationship goes even crazier once his lover leaves with a freshly-found corpse. If you've actually seen any of Buttgereit's short films, you know he's got a pretty twisted sense of humor - if anything, this could be considered among the blackest of black comedies (the corpse has a lead pipe inserted into its rotting organs to act as a penis; Lorenz's 'suicide' is so ludicrous that just thinking about it makes me laugh). Due to its graphic nature it will probably be dismissed by most viewers, but the low-budget 8mm footage and rough construction - to me, at least - actually work in its favor.
