A young man who tires of his own family goes and pretends to be the long-lost son of an Armenian family, who welcome him to their home and even let him help out their business. I never bought the concept from the beginning, so what I saw was a nice little thesis about self-deception that defies the concept of human psychology. Egoyan's films are often theoretically impressive but don't play out particularly well - if you eliminate his fascination with video/film technology and applied his ideas to paper, they might make better novels than films (and I don't mean this as an insult, either).
