A member of the Yazuka, fresh out of jail, falls for a girl and finds himself sliding back towards criminal behavior and a return to the pen. Aside from some wonderfully morose black and white photography - and images of 60's Japanese nightlife - this doesn't feel like anything new or fresh in terms of plotting or characters - and speaking of characters, none of them are remotely sympathetic. Womanhood, once again, represents a very ominous threat to manhood.
