Director: F.W. Murnau
Year Released: 1926
Rating: 2.0

Weak effort from Murnau about a young actor who shows his grandfather and his grandfather's maid a film of "Tartuffe" to convince the old man that his maid is a wicked woman - the point being that cinema has the power to 'convince' the masses and convey truth (I'm guessing people believed back then that cinema had precisely that power ... ah, how times change). Compared to most of Murnau's oeuvre this particular picture seems overly simplistic and unlikely, if structurally unique for its time.
