Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children
Director: Tetsuya Nomura and Takeshi Nozue
Year Released: 2004
Rating: 1.0
Supposed 'continuation' of Final Fantasy VII for the Sony Playstation that reunites many of the characters in the game and rekindles the nasty feud between Cloud Strife ("good guy" - spikey hair, phallic sword) and Sephiroth ("bad guy" - long silvery hair, phallic sword). Non-gamers can safely avoid this - they'd be incredibly lost - although as a game aficionado who has played and beaten FFVII, it's not much more than a half-hour of chatter and an hour of over-the-top CGI which does little to enhance the storyline, which was so well detailed by the game itself. Neat tidbits for those with a taste for this sort of thing: seeing Bahamut Sin run amok, Cait Sith-sans-moogle riding an awesome-looking Red XIII and Cloud's new Limit Break, which is not in the game. I'd say try the game first if you're curious, but be prepared to spend at least 40-50 hours of your life getting through it.
