The Fog
Director: John Carpenter
Year Released: 1980
Rating: 1.0
Slapdash horror film about a crew of zombies that come inland with the tide to seek revenge against the townspeople; Hal Holbrook, as the priest, takes time to ham it up. Uses familiar "boo!" tactics and neglects to garner much interest for its characters - it's neither scary nor original, which is a shame. Carpenter is quoted by sourpuss David Thomson as saying his secret wish is to be transported back to the '40s to direct movies because he feels out of date. If "out of date" translates to "lackluster," he's onto something.
