The Lair of the White Worm
Director: Ken Russell
Year Released: 1988
Rating: 1.0
Russell adapts a Bram Stoker story about an archaeologist who unearths a strange skull and, with it, a white worm and a female demon (penis, vagina, right, right). The story itself is routine, but the dream sequences and hallucinations allow Russell to channel his more youthful self - circa The Devils - and indulge in all sorts of blasphemy and moral bankruptcy, including demons fornicating at the foot of a crucified Christ, seducing a teen by playing "Lair of the White Worm: The Board Game" and attempting to penetrate pretty blonde virgins with metallic dildos. Those 'good parts' (which wouldn't look out of place in a GWAR video - that is, if you know anything about GWAR) are unfortunately few and far between quite unlike The Devils, which is all hysteria (and, in my opinion, all the better for it).
