The offspring of superheroes go to high school in space, but are weeded out by their genetic ability (heroes versus hero assistants; 'cool, popular' kids versus the 'freaks'). A few of the metaphors stand out, but the Disney side of this wins out in the end, making everything a glossy and elongated episode of Even Stevens with all your standard high school movie clichés (everything ending at the big dance, the lead male in love with the popular girl, the nerdy girl in love with the lead male, poorly conceived plot twists, etc.). There isn't enough subversive humor to put this on the same level as something like the widely underrated 10 Things I Hate About You (friends and I still quote lines from that movie), placing it in the Mean Girls tier of teen pics: generally good natured and just spunky enough to keep it watchable.
