The Adventures of Baron Munchausen
Director: Terry Gilliam
Year Released: 1988
Rating: 0.5
Pointless depiction of the title character/windbag's outrageous tall tales, and encounters with Robin Williams' head on a pizza dish, his hot air balloon made out of ladies' knickers and a sweet tryst in mid-air with Venus. The elusive point to this dreadfully dull charade reminds me of those after-school specials or even the LeVar Burton hosted Reading Rainbow - "Just use your imagination, kids!" - only with a huge budget and lots of unfunny physical humor. I don't see anyone clamoring for films about Johnny Appleseed or Paul Bunyan, although if you cast Eric Idle or Robin Williams to be in those they'd probably overact just as much as they do here.
