The Big One
Director: Michael Moore
Year Released: 1997
Rating: 3.0
While on his book tour, professional rabble-rouser Michael Moore invades the offices of several companies who have been amassing huge profits and eliminating jobs in the States in favor of overseas slave labor (what a sweet, wonderful world we live in). While no different than his TV shows and basically a clip movie - some of those clips being very self-serving - it's always refreshing to see Moore out there and raising hell, egotistical but with a point and purpose. The section with the CEO of Nike, Phil Knight, reveals just how callous, cold and cruel businessmen can be - with regards to his company's use of ultra-cheap labor from Indonesia to make overpriced sneakers, he's visibly unrepentant and defensive ('Americans don't want to make sneakers,' he says). If there's a hell below, some of these bosses are gonna go.
