Hangin' With the Homeboys

Director: Joseph B. Vasquez
Year Released: 1991
Rating: 2.5

On Friday night, four young men with similar problems - where to go with their lives - decide to hang out but get into a serious of misadventures. The dialogue is often funny and the interaction between the four is well-observed - the actors add dimension to their characters where the script doesn't. Contrivances pile up, but these kinds of movies almost demand them; Vasquez sneaks in some positive messages (wear a condom; go to college; the world is tough on everybody - you're not alone), so it isn't a purely hedonistic affair.
