Duel in the Sun
Director: King Vidor
Year Released: 1946
Rating: 1.0
Producer David O. Selznick's attempt to make another epic (like Gone with the Wind) winds up falling flat on its face. It's the story of a 'half-breed' (Jennifer Jones) who becomes the object of desire for two brothers (Gregory Peck and Joseph Cotton) but can't decide which one she likes more. I got the feeling while watching that director King Vidor and Selznick were trying to make her their next Vivien Leigh (with a little sexual bawdiness a la Elizabeth Taylor) but it's clear she doesn't have the talent to back it up.
