Saved!

Director: Brian Dannelly
Year Released: 2004
Rating: 0.0

One-note premise absolutely bludgeoned to death - it panders to its build in, 'with it' audience that knows religious freaks are ridiculous and that homosexuality isn't something than can be 'cured.' Belongs on the same level as something like Pumpkin where the sheer failure of the black 'comedy' and borderline insulting storyline both reach unprecedented lows - there's no nuance, no finesse, no wit contained in the screenplay, only redundancy (every utterance has to do with Jesus; these characters are as flat as the Christ billboard outside their school) and dull sermonizing. Whereas this could have used a Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the dreaded PG-13 works against it, forcing a diluted version into a potentially cutting R-rated one.
