Bullet in the Head
Director: John Woo
Year Released: 1990
Rating: 2.0
Buddy film that contains equal parts Once Upon a Time in America, The Deer Hunter, The Killer, Rebel Without a Cause and Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia. It's a long, engrossing but ultimately silly and unrealistic movie that Woo admitted to having a hard time completing and considers a labor of love. A lot of people think highly of the film and see it as a powerful message about friendship, greed, tragedy and revenge ... themes Woo has gone back to time and again. Yet when you strip away the flashy violence sequences (which I admit are powerful and well-choreographed), you essentially have a B-movie masquerading as an A-movie.
