The Bourne Identity
Director: Doug Liman
Year Released: 2002
Rating: 3.0
After a botched assassination attempt, Matt Damon's character is shot and left floating in the water; when he is saved by an Italian crew and comes to, he has amnesia and finds himself being followed by a variety of international killers (just like in Branded to Kill?). As a popcorn action movie, I thought it did its job - I was reminded of 2003's The Recruit and its high-tech spy gizmos; like that film, I was also very much disappointed by this movie's improbable ending. Damon is convincing as the title character - he is a very good actor - and a big reason for its success; also of note is Clive Owen's small part, which shows how much he can do with only a few lines.
