The Boy With the Green Hair
Director: Joseph Losey
Year Released: 1948
Rating: 1.5
After hearing from the man he lives with that 'green' is the color of Spring and rebirth, a little war orphan's hair turns green ... which is supposed to be a symbol for others to follow to stop waging war and making peace. The persecution of the boy at the hands of his peers and elders because of his oddness is interesting - it shows how intolerant people are of genuine individuals or others who are 'different' - but not explored too thoroughly; the film is naïve and sanitized to the point where it seems like an extended episode of an old sitcom.
