Free-spirited firebrand and would-be nun Julie Andrews melts the log wedged inside Christopher Plummer's militant ass and gains the acceptance of his children in order to form a family band that sings the same three or four (catchy) songs over and over again. Crowd-pleasing/pandering to a fault - it's the kind of movie that would love to come over your house and cook a meal for you or fluff your pillow at night - but a pest at around three hours long. The final half-hour needed some real-life drama so several Nazi Bully Boys were deployed to chase the von Trapp clan around.
