Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension, The

Director:  W.D. Richter
Year Released:  1984
Rating:  0.5

This is the kind of film that, while watching, you wonder why it's still around (or was ever released in the first place): a truly awful big-budget spoof of science-fiction films that's so logically baffling and unforgivably sloppy it makes the crayon houses kindergarten kids scribble on construction paper look like the second coming of Frank Gehry. I'm not sure exactly what's going on, but here's a guess: there are these 'good' aliens disguised as Jamaicans flooding New Jersey (wait, I guess that's a little funny) and they're trying to stop these other aliens (led by John Lithgow) who want to steal some secret formula/machine from Buckaroo Banzai (Peter Weller). Or they want his supped-up car. Or they want to kidnap Ellen Barkin. Whatever - just get it away from me.
