The Thousand Eyes of Dr. Mabuse

Director: Fritz Lang
Year Released: 1960
Rating: 1.5

Lang's last film about Hitleresque Dr. Mabuse (long since dead but his fascist ideology lives on, ominously, in the minds of others) has too many characters to deal with and is short on action - the ending provides some tense moments but it's fairly slow going until then. Inspired by American detective stories and films; Gert Frobe is a less-than-adequate Spade or Marlowe, however.
