Ashes and Diamonds

Director:  Andrzej Wajda
Year Released:  1958
Rating:  3.0

The last part of Wajda's 'war' trilogy about psychological unrest in Poland during the end of World War II. Remains fluid and compelling due to Zbigniew Cybulski's eerie performance (you can't hear his name or read about him without the obligatory comparison to James Dean ... although the likeness is uncanny) and the relaxed pacing. I got confused a few times as to what was happening, but it never bothered me, since I settled in with Wajda's rhythm early on.
