The Merry Widow

Director: Erich von Stroheim
Year Released: 1925
Rating: 2.0

Two men battle with each other for the affection of the title character, a voiceless cipher, who gets thrown around and repeatedly mistreated. Yes, it is von Stroheim again, packing the two plus hours with unnecessary filler (the story does not require it), and it is he who tosses in some kink to liven up the ho-hum romance. Not his most captivating work ... by a long shot.
