Tully

Director: Jason Reitman
Year Released: 2018
Rating: 1.5

Physically drained Marlo (Charlize Theron), who just delivered her third child and has one son with behavioral issues (and a husband that is just sort-of ... there), is 'gifted' a "night nanny" named Tully (Mackenzie Davis) by her rich brother, and her and the free-spirited caretaker become close to one another, drinking wine and chatting a lot. Screenwriter Diablo Cody's 'point,' that we become less wild and carefree and more reserved with age is no great breakthrough, and the last act takes a Fight Club for Women 'twist,' in which Marlo has to come to terms with her past and being unable to "ride every horse on the carousel" or be as thin as she used to be (waaah!). If she didn't want to be "tied down" and "stuck being a Mommy," maybe the Marlo character should have, I don't know, only had one child? Or, better yet, none at all?
