The Founder

Director: John Lee Hancock
Year Released: 2016
Rating: 3.0

Financially-strapped salesman Ray Kroc (Michael Keaton) has a chance meeting with 15 cent burger makers Richard and Maurice McDonald out in San Bernardino, California, who buy several of his milkshake mixers and let him in on their secret to making 'fast food' - soon, Kroc's ambition goes into manic mode and he and the founding brothers clash over future plans for the "McDonald's" franchise. It shows Kroc's pros and cons - the neglectful husband, the loquacious pitchman, the ruthless tactician - with Keaton as the possessed lead, capable of being shrewd and charming and heartless, which are probably requirements of every multi-millionaire (he's less than fair to Rich and Maurice, but they don't wind up poor). Leans a little too close to being an advertisement for Mickey D's ... or maybe I'm just too weak to see those arches and not want an Egg McMuffin.
