Kingsman: The Golden Circle

Director: Matthew Vaughn
Year Released: 2017
Rating: 2.0

Common bloke-turned-dapper-gent Eggsy (Taron Egerton), one of the leaders of British spies/tailors the Kingsman, has to contend with insidious Poppy (Julianne Moore), who's blown up his headquarters and threatening the planet with a virus that infects anyone that's ever used an illegal drug (that damn reefer!). I found the first of these to be simply terrible, but this sequel is considerably more fun, thanks to the inclusion of sister spy organization (the stereotypically "Southern American") Statesman, helmed by Champ (Jeff Bridges) and featuring the presence of Tequila (Channing Tatum) and Ginger (Halle Berry) ... not to mention the return of one-eyed Harry (Colin Firth). The action scenes are still gaudily directed, but it looks like everyone's having a good ol' time hamming it up. Whoever came up with the Two-In-The-Pink 'subplot': I remember being 13-years-old too.
