The Titan

Director: Lennart Ruff
Year Released: 2018
Rating: 2.0

In the near future, humanity has figured out a way to ruin itself (yep, we did it again), so soldier Lt. Janssen (Sam Worthington) volunteers to take part in an experimental body-morphing process conducted by Prof. Collingwood (Tom Wilkinson) to be able to fly to Titan, one of Saturn's moons, and colonize it ... except Janssen's wife Abi (Taylor Schilling) notices his physical form is changing for the worse and expresses her concerns. It's a rehash of the Frankenstein cautionary tale with familiar beats - 'Doctor something is wrong,' 'No, it's fine' ad nauseum (as test patients get sicker and more violent) - that is, until it turns 180 degrees at the finale and decides you know what, it's fine after all to mutate a human being if the result works (gotta breathe in all that nitrogen!). Schilling, a classically trained actress, is compelling and genuinely concerned with the health of her hubby, but she can only do so much with a jejune script.
