Mascots

Director: Christopher Guest
Year Released: 2016
Rating: 0.5

Yet another mockumentary by Guest - who, if the Internet Movie Database is to be trusted, said he was 'done' making them in 2005 - that centers around a fringe group of minor league sports mascots gathering for a competition. As I said with Guest's past efforts - this one being just as bad if not worse - centering your film around a group of pathetic individuals and encouraging the audience to laugh at them isn't entertaining - it's sad, actually - although he does get one character in there (Chris O'Dowd's "Zook") who's both spunky and nasty (and also infected with syphilis) and eventually leaves the profession to become a monk. Remember when Rob Reiner made only one of these fake docs and moved on? That was a wise decision.
