Terminator Genisys

Director: Alan Taylor
Year Released: 2015
Rating: 1.5

In 2029 (just a few years away!), vicious Skynet is trying to wipe humanity out, so resistance leader John Connor (Jason Clarke) sends loyal warrior Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney) back in time to 1984-era Los Angeles to find Connor's mother Sarah (Emilia Clarke) ... and basically impregnate her and destroy Skynet's earlier incarnation "Genisys." It's almost laughable in its re-imagining of James Cameron's still-good original, taking ample time to explain its absurd "altered timeline" predicaments (the action sequences lack originality). It does address the proverbial elephant in the room, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger's age (he's close to 70!), although he still has an imposing physique ("old but not obsolete") and can deliver the droll one-liners with ease. If "Genisys" is code for "Google" ... I pray they're not lying about their "Don't be evil" motto.
