The Interview

Director: Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogan
Year Released: 2014
Rating: 1.0

Controversial bro-comedy about the CIA (led by the lovely Lizzy Caplan) recruiting a talk show host (James Franco) and his producer (Seth Rogan) to assassinate the leader of North Korea, Kim Jong-un (Randall Park): the concept of the movie irked the country of North Korea and allegedly led to Sony Pictures getting 'hacked' in response. Inept as satire (Team America: World Police did a better job mocking Kim Jong-un's Dad) and overflowing with puerile gags (metal object up the ass! stinkdick! chewed off fingers!), the only thing this will be remembered for in time is the hacking incident and as a cause célèbre when Sony initially said they were pulling the film from wide release and people reacted negatively (it would have set dangerous precedent). That Park's dictator figure comes across as the most fully-developed character in the entire movie is the most shocking aspect to it.
