Mousehunt

Director: Gore Verbinski
Year Released: 1997
Rating: 2.5

A former disgraced chef (Nathan Lane) and his brother (Lee Evans), the manager of the family string factory, inherit an antique house with the intent of selling it off for millions, with the only problem being that there's a mouse with the IQ of a nuclear physicist scurrying around and making problems. Though I will admit Maltin's Guide is correct in pointing out that Abbott and Costello did these sort of skits in a much quicker period of time - and that, being a strictly-kids movie, a massive amount of suspension of disbelief is necessary (no one is this stupid) - there are some silly-fun moments in this, not simply courtesy of snarky Lane or frantic Evans, but also Christopher Walken as an exterminator. The sight gags - reminiscent of the board game Mouse Hunt - are clever if implausible. The ending is adorable.
