Preston Sturges: The Rise and Fall of an American Dreamer

Director: Kenneth Bowser
Year Released: 1990
Rating: 2.0

"Incomplete" documentary of the life and work of director/writer Sturges that fails to say anything different than what I read in a two-page summary. Most of the 76-minute running time shows clips from his movies and a few lame interviews, but no insights are presented (Paul Schrader, in particular, looks like he's ready for a nap). Being 'merely competent' simply does not cut it - I'd advocate watching all of Sturges' films and reading his autobiography if you want real information.
